Report for the RJE3 program Basic Subjects
北海道大学環境科学院 地球圏科学専攻 博士後課程1年
1st year student of latter period of doctoral program
Division of Earth System Science,
Graduate School of Environmental Science, Hokkaido University
First of all, as a student from Graduate School of Environmental Science, I really appreciate that I could have a chance to attend the RJE3 program Basic Subjects. In five days courses, I got a lot of information about both Russia and Japan. The eastern Siberia will be my research area and I will study here in Japan for another 3 years.
What interested me the most in part of Russia was in the first day, “Natural Environmental and Resource in Hokakdo, Russian Far East and Arctic Zone.” And in part of Japan, I thought “History and Culture in Hokakdo, Russian Far East and Arctic Zone” was the most fascinating topic.
I thought the best part was the group discussion every day. We were separated in different groups randomly to have a discussion about different subjects after lectures in that day.
For the RJE3 program, I hope it will have a wider approach. For instance, I would have missed the RJE3 program if my supervisor hadn’t told me about this. And as an international student, I wish this program could let more students, who are from other countries neither Russia nor Japan, to attend the RJE3 program as well. There are a lot of foreign students in Hokkaido University whose research area is in Russia, Japan or both. I think this program will be a good opportunity for them, too.
In the end, I want to thank you for all your effort to preparing such a great program for us.
