Hokkaido University Dormitory

※This notification is for Residents who move into Hokkaido University International House and Sapporo International House. The notification for Residents who move into Keiteki-Ryo and Sosei-Ryo will be sent separately.

  1. 1. Notification of your arrival date.

    Those who gained admission, please make contact via the addresses below as soon as possible.

    (1) Hokkaido University International House

    *Please inform us about your preferred move-in date.
    (2) Sapporo International Student Center (Former name:Sapporo International House)

    *Please inform us about your preferred move-in date.

    *There are no stocks of bed linens in Sapporo International House. Therefore, if you would like to use bed linens (1,080 yen per month), you must inform CO-OP together with the date moving into.
    *If you fail to notify us in time about your preference, we will contact you. However, in this case, you may not be able to move in at your preferred date.

    * From year to year, there are cases when students do not appear at the agreed date or appear without prior confirmation at the dormitories. As the rooms are prepared according to the agreed move-in date, do not forget to contact the CO-OP Room Guide in advance. If there are any changes regarding your move in date, please notify CO-OP in a timely manner.

  2. 2. Moving in

    When moving in, please present the “Residence Permission”.

  3. 3. In case of cancellation

    In case you cancel your tenancy, please contact Hokudai CO-OP as soon as possible.

  4. 4. About bed linens of the single rooms

    *Persons moving into Hokkaido University International House
    During the move in procedures, we will inform you about the options for renting bed linen from the management office. For single residents, bed linen rental is mandatory for 1 month after move in. Residents, who are moving into family rooms, will be asked about rental preference prior to their arrival.
    *Persons moving into Sapporo International Student Center (Former name:Sapporo International House)
    As mentioned previously, there are no stocks of bed linens in Sapporo International House. Therefore, if you would like to use bed linens (1,080 yen per month), you must inform CO-OP together with the date moving into.

  5. 5. Important Notice

    • University housing cannot store personal items and we request that items being shipped arrive after you have begun occupation.
    • Depending on conditions, there may be situations in which you cannot move in on your requested move into the date. To avoid confusion that has occurred in the past such as no shows at the dorm on the requested move in date/time, or showing up unexpectedly at the dorm without prior contact to Hokudai CO-OP, make sure to contact them of your preferred move in date/time. If you must change this date/time, contact Hokudai CO-OP as soon as possible.
    • All residents living in Hokkaido University International House (excluding keiteki-ryo, sosei-ryo, and Sapporo International Student Center) for a month and over are required to pay \50,000 as a deposit at the time of the first payment, for the final payment and the repair cost of the room in case the repair of the room is needed.If you don’t have any payment unpaid and repair point of your room, after you leave the dormitory, you can get a refund.

      About Hokkaido University International House, if the part of the room is damaged because of the resident, the resident may have to compensate for that fee.

      About Hokkaido University International House Fushimi and Kita 8 building1~4 for singles, if the part of the common space of the room is damaged apparently by the specified resident, the specified resident may have to compensate for that fee and if the resident can’t be specified, the residents in the same unit may have to compensate for that fee fairly .

    • If the students start living in the dormitory in anytime during a month: Usually, Residents of Hokkaido University International House will be charged utilities and boarding fees by the day. (For the details, please read the attachment “About the fee of for International Student University Housing”.)
  6. 6. Others

    1. (1) About the payment for lodging expenses

      Hokkaido University International House
      Please pay all lodging expenses such as boarding fee and utility expenses at a convenience store with dedicated payment form.
      Sapporo International Student Center (Former name:Sapporo International House)
      Sapporo International Student Center (Former name:Sapporo International House)
      Please pay boarding fee at a convenience store with dedicated payment form.
      However, other lodging expenses will be taken with electronic withdrawal by Sapporo International Student Center.

      Those who fail to pay the monthly payments for the dormitory and the utility charge more than three months may be canceled the permission of using dormitory.

    2. (2) Parking space

      There is no parking space at the dormitory. If you have a car, you must park nearby private parking.

    3. (3) Household furniture & Home electrical appliance

      Household furniture and home electrical appliance are equipped in each room. If residents own household furniture and home electrical appliance, please dispose them or keep them in your room. There is no space to keep them in common area in the dormitory. Please refer to the “Outline of Hokkaido University International House” or the Website of Hokkaido University about the residence equipment.

    4. (4) In case of losing a room key

      f you lose a room key, you must pay the fee of new key.Please be careful not to lose a key.

*We attach “ANNOUNCING SELECTION RESULTS FOR INTERNATIONAL STUDENT UNIVERSITY HOUSING.” Please use it when it’s needed.
