Flow of completion certificate acquisition

Students are to apply for Basic Subjects that are offered every August. The Basic Subjects form an omnibus liberal education program and all participating students in the RJE3 Program from Japan and Russia will attend lectures for these Subjects. The number of credits for the Basic Subjects is 4 (2 credits for lectures + 2 credits for field practice) and the duration of each subject lasts about two weeks. If necessary, students are requested to take Prep Subjects that are offered at the universities in their home countries before taking the Basic Subjects in order to understand the cultures and languages of their host countries.

To advance to a higher level of education after completing the Basic Subjects, students have to take Specialized Subjects in their host countries. Specialized Subjects give students four credits or more and last half a year.

After completing the Specialized Subjects at their host universities and returning to their home countries, students engage in internships or write papers, among activities, as Advanced Subjects at their home universities or RJE3 Program participating universities. As a general rule, Advanced Subjects give students two credits or more.

For the RJE3 Program, two levels of completion certificates are issued.

Basic Subject completion certificates: certificates issued by Hokkaido University to students who took Basic Subjects of the RJE3 Program and satisfy the standards for bestowing the certificates.

RJE3 Program joint completion certificate: certificates jointly issued by the students’ home universities and host universities to students who received 8 credits for the RJE3 Program, earned degrees at their graduate schools, and satisfy the standards for bestowing the certificates.
